11.5.12 - Seremban playground

In the morning, I brought the boys to a playground nearby, in the town. Seremban town is quite green. It has quite a number of parks with nice playgrounds and they all seemed to be under utilised. I hardly see anyone at the playgrounds, even in the evening.
This playground has an obstacle course, besides its usual slides and see-saws.

I wish KL had such type of "obstacle course" playground equipment

Beside this playground, there is another bicycle area called "Laman Basikal".

It has small roads with road signs and some children were learning the proper way to ride a bicycle using road signs.

There was also a playground in there

19.4.12 - Climbing monkey bars

Gymnastics has taught S to be more brave and he managed to climb the whole stretch of the monkey bars, after 2.5 months of gymnastics class.

16.2.12 - At the park

We went to the park near our house. I let the boys do their own things, and they came up with some structure using broken branches.

18.1.12 - Visit to Lembah Kiara Recreational Park

We went to Lembah Kiara Recreational Park in TTDI again. It's a nice serene place. Even at 11.30 am, part of the park was quite shady from the many trees there.
The boys found many red round fruits lying on the grass (I'm not sure what these are called).
The picked them and threw them into the stream and watched it float downstream.

There was a tall crane with a bucket carring workers who were sawing down some tree branches.

4.1.12 - Park

We went to the neighbourhood park in the evening.

29.12.11 - Taman Jaya Park & Petaling Jaya Museum

This is our first visit to Taman Jaya Park. When I was a little girl, my mother used to bring me to Taman Jaya Park. I believe some of the playground equipment were from from last time - 25 - 30 years ago. They looked familiar to me.

We came across the Petaling Jaya Museum. It was a small museum. Entrance is free.

16.12.11 - Creative play at the park

At the park, the boys pretended to be firemen attending to a fire.

S climbed a ladder to put out the fire using a fire hose. (This is the highest he has ever climbed) on this structure.

12.12.11 - Outdoor learning at the park

In the morning, we went to the park near our house. Although, it was 10+ am, it was still shady under the trees. They did some collage and some pages of activity books outdoors for a change. Their sessions were interspersed with running around in the park. It was quite nice there under the shady trees, with fresh air and I thought that I should bring them there more often and have our learning sessions outdoors instead of being cooped up in the house. The mornings are quite pleasant as there's no one around and no mosquitoes either. Except for that pesky fly that kept hovering near us.

9.12.11 - Playing at the park

We went to the park in the evening. S is still learning how to kick ball. Sometimes he can, sometimes he misses.

Putting "a dash of pepper"

He thinks that the flower petals resemble a helicopter propeller, twirls and releases it and watches it fall down.
They took turns to drive the 'racecar'.
My maid caught a praying mantis. She thought it was like a grasshopper and tried to feed it leaves. Fortunately, I remembered from the Magic School Bus book and video that a praying mantis is carnivorous and eats insects. This is the first time I'm seeing a real-life praying mantis. Its behaviour was a little odd, as it didn't try to jump away at all. In fact, it looked rather cute, with its eyes and head, moving around and looking at me, reminding me of a little puppy.
A dragonfly
A snowman? I don't know what seeds these are.

5.12.11 - Making stone soup at the park

In the evening, we went to the park near our house. E went to collect stones to make stone soup. They had already read about Stone Soup from 3 different storybooks by 3 different authors.

After that, the boys pretended to be firemen, climbing on the fire engine ladder and putting out fires.
Notice his "fire hose"?
