1.9.11: Visit to I-City

We went to I-City, in Shah Alam in the evening, mainly as we had purchased tickets for a reptile tour at True Discovery in I-City. We arrived there just as the sun was setting. This is our 3rd time there and second time visiting it at night. There were more exhibits at the entrance, near the car park. We were charged RM5 for the car park, which was redeemable for a carousel ride for 1 person. There were many people there, as it was during the Hari Raya holidays.

5.4.11: Snowalk at I-City

We went to Snow Walk at I-City in Shah Alam, at 10.00 am. Tickets were on a promotional rate of RM15 per adult and RM10 per child, (valid during the promotional duration and between 10 am - 6 pm). Normal rates were RM25 per adult and RM20 per child. Jacket rental was included in the fee.

Only snow jackets were provided. There were jackets of various sizes for adults and even young children.  Fortunately we were prepared and we brought our own scarves and gloves and wore covered shoes with socks.

When we stepped in, it was like in another world altogether. It was like being in a giant freezer filled with ice (carvings). The freezing cold air was refreshing. At the time we went there, there were no falling snow. It was scheduled only at certain times. There were what looked like big airconditioners there, which enabled the temperature to remain below 5 degree celcius. There were workers there. Only one man was doing the ice carving  whereas the others were doing drilling and fixing up stuff. They all had to don snow suits. Being in such a freezing environment, isn't an easy place to work in. The workers went out intermittently to take a break in the 30 degree celcius heat outside.

S and I sat on a tobbogan. It went very fast downwards. Then the momentum pushed the tobbogan up a slope and then it stopped and reversed, finally stopped the tobbogan. However, the path was too close to the wall and I knocked my elbow against the wall when we stopped. It was painful for a day.

I touched the ice tables and ice chairs but was surprised that it was not wet. It was actually dry. I guess it would only be wet if it was melting. We spent around 45 minutes there, then found it too cold for comfort. S started coughing and coughing, and I quickly brought the boys out. We were allowed to go in and out of the place, but nobody wanted to go back in once they had removed their jackets and gloves and basked in the warm air outside. We enjoyed ourselves there and would probably make another trip there in the future.   

9.12.10: Visit to I-City, City of Digital Lights, Shah Alam

We visited I-City, City of Digital Lights in Shah Alam. It was quite easy to find, in Shah Alam, heading towards Klang. It was near to Bukit Raja Industrial Park.

We arrived early at around 7 pm, just as it was starting to get dark. We were stopped by the roadside and asked to pay RM10 for the parking. We were asked to park in the basement of the building. However, when we entered, we weren't sure exactly where to park, as the whole parking lot was empty! We went round and round the parking lot, going into the different floors which were totally empty. We realised that it was safer for us to park near the entrance, where we came in from, so we made our way back to the entrance.

We parked near to the lift, and when we entered the lift, we were surprised to see it pitch black when the doors closed. The lights in the lift weren't functioning. An irony, as this was a place where 'everything' is lighted. Good thing that none of us were claustrophobic. Luckily the floor number was working and we could at least get out on the correct floor.

The RM10 could be redeemed against the entrance fee to the Snow World or the Animal Safari or to purchase food and beverage. Since there were 4 adults, we used it for the Snow World. I thought I could use the RM2 balance to purchase drinks, but the person in charge of tickets said that they don't return the 'change' and it was to be forfeited. Huh?

I was quite impressed with the lightings. I don't think the photos do justice to the place. To me, it looks better when you are physically there instead compared to looking at the photos.
