4.2.11: Chinese New Year 2011 Lion Dance

We wanted to visit the Melaka Butterfly Garden and Reptile Sanctuary, but got the location mixed up and parked the car at Philea Resort and Spa, which was just before the Butterfly Garden. It was a good thing, as we saw many people waiting at the front of the resort. They were waiting for the lion dance to start, and we were in luck!

We waited around 20 minutes and the boys got to see a lion dance for the first time in their lives. They weren't afraid, although the sounds of the cymbals and the drum were deafening. I believe that the people performing the lion dance were students, they seem quite young, but very skilful. It was rather impressive looking at their ability to jump and prance around on the high poles.
