20.8.11: Visit to Rumah Shalom Children Home

At 4 pm, after we returned from Trolak, we rushed over to Rumah Shalom Children Home in Puchong, for an event that was organised by hubby's company.
Lots of donation in kind were contributed by the staff

A team of young and energetic interns from the company conducted some interactive games and activities for the children there, who enjoyed these activities immensely.
This picture was snapped by E. Nice angle!
After some interactive activities indoors, the children moved onto the field outside to some games. The boys climbed played in the playground. We had to avoid certain spots in the field that was quite dirty with rubbish lying around.

Having their own activities
The boys collected these dried pea pods
They observed the young pea pods hanging from the tree
Holding some young pea pods that had fallen onto the ground
They decide to make a 'human'
After that, the children went indoors and some games were played. Then a birthday song was sung for a child who had a birthday in August.

Eating birthday cake
The event ended with dinner and the kids were given a goodie bag each.

Notice the tagline in the wall, in the background? I disagree with calling these children 'helpless'. My observation was that the children in this home were polite and disciplined and seemed to be brought up well. I believe that each of them have a lot of gifts and potential and calling them helpless would only belittle these bright sparks and reaffirm that they are helpless. I do hope they change their tagline.
