24.8.11: Selangor's newest library

We went to check out Selangor's newest library in Shah Alam. It's called Perbadanan Perpustakaan Awam Selangor (PPAS). It is situated opposite Kelab Gold Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah (KGSAAS). It was a replacement of the old Shah Alam library and was open to the public on 22 July 2011.

Below are pictures of the children's section. It is child-friendly and the children were allowed to make noise and run around and play here. Membership is free and 3 books can be borrowed for 3 weeks. We are allowed to renew the books via telephone.

I found the books quite old, however, as it was from the earlier library. There weren't that many new books, but I believe that they will replenish them as some racks were empty.
Internet-connected Mac computers. Internet charges are RM1 per hour. If you bring your own laptop, there is free wifi available. If you want to use their electricity to plug your laptop, a charge of RM1 is applicable.

There were several bean bags there. So comfortable!

These are some pictures of the adult's section comprising 4 floors altogether. Children are not allowed to step into the adult's library.

There were many interesting-looking chairs and sofas there.

There were also 3D and 6D movie theatre, but I didn't check it out. On the whole, the library was impressive and something that we can be proud of. The books were limited but I'm sure they are taking steps to replenish the empty racks. Some grouses of visitors were that visitors had to remove their footwear and lug them around in a bag provided.
