Info about The Maritime Museum
The Maritime Museum is located at the old Guthrie warehouse after it was extensively renovated by the Public Works Department. The building is next to the replica of the Flora de La Mar that houses The Maritime Museum. The Maritime Museum Phase II is a modern museum incorporating computer technology and focuses on a variety of maritime themes such as maritime life, exploration of the oceans and seas, treasures from the sea etc.
Objective
To show the majesty of the seas and the oceans, the inter dependence of the maritime world and Man, and the role of the seas and oceans in Man's continuing progress.
Notes
The Maritime Museum Phase II, open to the public on May 23 1998, was officially declared open by the Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism, Culture and the Environment, Datuk Poh Ah Tiam.
